Are you an adventurer?

Mark Twain: Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

I think he’s mistaken. I think it’s more like twenty minutes from now. Thanks to Enrique for the excellent link to that quotation site!

  1. Twenty minutes from now I will perhaps be disappointed, but I will still be able to delude myself with the idea that I can make up for it in the _next_ twenty minutes. Hard to plan in chunks of twenty years, though… or is that just me?

  2. Eh, I do better with years when trying to make big decisions. I call it the “Ten-Year Minimization Of Regret” plan. In 10 years, will you regret deciding this way or that way? Or will it matter at all? And if not, why stress about it?
